Chanpapo Godfrey, the guy who played Kony character in the Kony movie ‘Order from Above’ has passed on, we can confirm.

“He fought the good fight even when he was sick he still pushed on until his organs failed him, Said a relative on letting Steve Ayeny, the movie director of Kony Order from Above know that *Chanpapo Godfrey* our KONY had passed on.

A man with so much talent, so much passion and calmness both on screen and in real life.

Although we cannot hear your voice or see your smiling face anymore we know you have gone to a better place and you remain dear to our hearts for if we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

We are sad that you had to go soo soon. But deep down we know you are in a better place now and the angels are singing that even they too can share your talent.

RIP Chanpapo Godfrey

Why Tekno insisted on Ciroc at Naija to Kampala concert

Artistes always have riders before they arrive for performances. For the uninitiated, a rider is a set of requirements that must be met for the organisers. There is a technical rider about stage and sound set up and a hospitality rider about how the artiste expects to be treated. You have heard celebrities like Jennifer Lopez demanding an entire hotel to be painted white or Akon asking for black American make SUVs for his transportation.

Ciroc brand ambassador Tekno with Uganda Ciroc brand manager Roger Agamba

During his performance in Kampala recently, Nigerian star Tekno insisted on a steady supply of Ciroc vodka, both at his hotel room and backstage. Not surprising because we learnt that Tekno was appointed a Ciroc brand ambassador earlier this year. He is one of the few African celebrities attached to the luxurious vodka that was made famous by P. Diddy.

Ciroc Brand Manager Roger Agamba was on hand to hand Tekno a Ciroc bottle on arrival at Serena and took care of the backstage hospitality with a luxurious lounge that had unlimited supply of the world’s premium vodka.

Though the concert was organised by Bell, the organisers had no problems with Tekno’s demands because well … Ciroc and Bell fall under the same Diageo family.

Painters tipped on good conduct

Did you know that there is such a thing as etiquette for Painters and Masons?  Well, neither did we until we attended a Painter’s workshop held in Hoima town on Thursday.

Have you ever had a painter in your house so nosy they joined in on your “kabozi”? Well, they are crossing the line. How about one that gets too comfortable and sits down to watch a TV program you are enjoying? They shouldn’t be doing that either. Some are even bold enough to open your fridge and pour themselves a drink. Well, that’s unacceptable too. And mind you, your house help might not be safe to the advances of a wanton painter. If you have ever encountered such a painter,Chances are, you will not be inviting then for another job next time.

Plascon is going around the country sensitizing painters on proper conduct while on duty. The move to sensitize painters is a way by Plascon to ensure that the people who are instrumental in the enjoyment of their product conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Plascon recently announced the acquisition of Sadolin Paints East Africa and currently command 60% of the Paint market in Uganda.

The training also introduced these painters to the latest trends and colour technology. The painters received certificates and some lucky ones walked away with mobile phones and other gifts in a draw that was held at the end of the training.

Fly Achieng to Vietnam by contributing something

When 24 Year Old Priscilla Achieng, winner of Miss Earth Uganda 2016, received news that she was going to represent Uganda at the Miss Grande International Pageant in Vietnam, she was over the moon.

Her excitement was however short lived when she realized that to represent Uganda at Miss Grande International, a pageant that is themed to stop war and violence, her country had to cater for her ticket to and fro Vietnam, and a few other bills.

Achieng Priscilla

She got frustrated and almost gave up, till a group of good Samaritans vowed to spread the word so that she can fly to Vietnam on 4th October to represent the country at the forthcoming Miss Grande International Pageant. She has hoisted the Ugandan flag before and bagged Gold while at it and made us proud. She has been granted a bigger opportunity to make us proud. Unfortunately, she is incapacitated.

She needs Uganda to collect 1,000 dollars (UGX 3M) for a to and fro air ticket and facilitate her and provide a bit of upkeep for her stay in Vietnam. The pageant where she is participating is going to take care of her accommodation and meals and most of her petty expenses, but not all of them. To donate, send mobile money to 0772235408 Names Achieng Priscilla.

Who is Priscilla Achieng?

Priscilla Achieng is a 24 year old graduate in leadership and governance from Makerere University.  Her first nudge with the spotlight came in 2015 when she participated in Miss Tourism Uganda.  After that, she was presented with a bigger opportunity at the Miss Earth Uganda Beauty Pageant.  Where she emerged the 2016/2017 winner and thus represented Uganda at Miss Earth International that was held in the Philippines.

While there, she hoisted the Ugandan flag so high when, because of her exhilarating runway displays and extremely creative Ugandan costumes, she bagged a Gold Medal for the Best National Costume. She emerged winner among 85 other contestants from across the globe that were vying for the same title.

Even though the Ugandan media wasn’t keen enough to pick up the achievement, Uganda garnered a lot of publicity from the International media. With many describing her display at the Miss Earth International as impeccable, a stance that painted Uganda as a country with so much untold stories and brightened its tourism and economic prospects internationally.

During that competition, courtesy of the media attention she garnered, she was contacted by the organizers of Miss Grande International to participate in the highly coveted Miss Grand International Pageant in Vietnam. The pageant organizers were moved by Achieng’s Environmental conservation initiatives and her involvement in community development activities and they decided that she should represent Uganda at the forthcoming Miss Grand International in Vietnam.

National Medical Stores (NMS) is conducting free yellow fever vaccination starting September 27th to 29th 2017 . The 3 day exercise supported by the Ministry of Health and Mulago Hospital will take place at the Kololo Independent Grounds during the URA Taxpayers Appreciation Week.

NMS General Manager Moses Kamabare said they have partnered with the Ministry of Health and Mulago Hospital because together they share a common commitment to achieve the government target of attaining a middle income population. This can be done by improving public health.

He emphasised that while it is everyone’s right to receive medicines, it is also the responsibility of the public to achieve good health and prevent diseases. He therefore called upon everyone to come out for the free yellow fever vaccination noting that 75% of all diseases in Uganda are preventable.

“We are making the yellow fever vaccine free and more accessible for these 3 days because it is in line with our mandate to procure, store and distribute medicines down to the people who need them,” he added in a statement he issued from the NMS Head Office in Entebbe.

NMS’ promise Passionate about your life is the theme for the activity targeting 90,000 people between the age of 9 months and 59 years. The only requirement is a national ID presented at the NMS tent during the Taxpayers Appreciation.

For two consecutive years now (2016 and 2017), UNICEF has commended the National Medical Stores for its effective distribution of vaccines at national level during the annual Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) workshop for Eastern and Southern Africa. UNICEF has applauded NMS for ensuring an increase in Uganda’s immunization coverage from 52% to 97%, according to a UN assessment.

Kamabare says the recognition motivates NMS to aim at 100% immunization rate.

Aruu County Member of Parliament Hon Odonga Otto has issued intention to sue notice to his Koboko Municipality counterpart Hon Evelyn Anite over defamation remarks.

Otto accuses Hon Anite, the State Minister for Finance in charge of Investment of calling him a drunkard and claiming he begged money from President Yoweri Museveni.

Odonga Otto

Through his own law firm of Odonga Otto and Company Advocates, Otto wants Anite to publicly apologize to him and also pay him Shs300 million in damages.

On Thursday last week, Minister Anite accused Otto of coming to parliament while drunk. She suggested the following day that members of parliament should be subjected to breathalyzer tests at the start of parliament business.

Evelyn Anite

Anite in a televised interview also accused Otto of begging for money from Museveni to support the Age Limit Bill, and that when he failed to get it, he became bitter with her.

Anite’s claims came after Hon Otto moved a motion on the floor of parliament for her to be subjected to the parliamentary disciplinary committee for allegedly endangering the lives of her fellow MPs.

The Aruu legislator says Anite’s comments damaged his reputation at Parliament, amongst the public and his constituents back home.

He now wants the minister to apologize to him publicly and to pay him Shs300m “in damages for the pain, torment and anguish” that he is undergoing.

Anite was given 7 days to make good of these demands or a suit would be formally filed in courts of law.
