President Kenyatta, DP say Supreme Court will not subvert will of Kenyans

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta today said the will of millions of Kenyans, expressed by a huge majority in August 8th elections, will not be subverted by the Supreme Court.

President Kenyatta, accompanied by Deputy President William Ruto on a tour of Nairobi, called on Kenyans to maintain peace in the aftermath of a Supreme Court decision that annulled the election without giving details of its ruling.

“I believe the will and the choice of Kenyans will prevail. They will prove the ruling of the four judges wrong,” said President Kenyatta in reference to the split 4-2 Supreme Court ruling.

The President spoke when he addressed people at Burma Market, Jua Kali and Muthurwa in Nairobi on his first meet-the-people-tour ahead of hitting the campaign trail once again.

President Kenyatta said there was no need for Kenyans to fight with each other over the election, saying they should continue with their daily activities peaceful even as the country prepares for another round of presidential election.

“I urge every Kenyan, shake hands with your neighbours and tell them that it does not matter what tribe they belong to, their political affiliation, religion or colour, we are all Kenyans and what is important is peace,” said the President.

The President said despite his misgivings, he will abide by the Supreme Court’s ruling, which directed the electoral agency IEBC to hold fresh elections within 60 days.

President Kenyatta thanked Kenyans for voting overwhelming for the Jubilee Party and urged them to uphold peace as the country prepares to go for a second round of presidential election.

He said the Court’s ruling has given him a chance to continue serving Kenyans as a sitting President and not as a President-elect. Top on his agenda is working with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to transform the city county.

“Be prepared to see rehabilitation of Burma Market, cleaning up of the city and improvement of roads. And we will start this work in the Eastlands area where a majority of the residents live,” President Kenyatta said.

Deputy President Ruto said Kenyans are ready to endorse their choice and called on the IEBC to set a date for Round Two of the Presidential election, saying this time Jubilee will win with over 70 per cent.

The Deputy President said Jubilee is ready for a fresh election and Kenyans will get a chance to express their sovereign will to shame those who refused to concede defeat.

“On 8 August we defeated our competitors, Kenyans voted for a majority of Jubilee candidates in the position of governors, senators, women representatives and members of county assembly. We are now telling the IEBC to put up a new timetable for election and we will again win with majority, this time round not with 54 per cent but with over 70 per cent,” said the Deputy President.

The President and Deputy President were accompanied by a host of Jubilee leaders including Governors Mike Mbuvi Sonko (Nairobi), Samuel Ole Tunai (Narok) and Moses Lenolkulal (Samburu), National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen.

Minister Frank Tumwebaze on Land issue

The NRM right from Inception, Put land in the hands of the People. This is not about to change. And If you Study our land Policies  & compare  them with those of other countries, you will appreciate how tilted  they are, in favor of the citizens than in many other jurisdictions.

Frank Tumwebaze

The proposed amendment bill therefore, is not reversing any of these policies. It only seeks to provide for how to resolve quickly disputes on Compensation values, without defeating the principle of compulsory acquisition of land for Public Interest developments, which the 1995 Constitution framers correctly provided for.

There are numerous cases of individuals either wanting to sabotage Projects with unreasonable disputes or to overprice and cheat Public funds. How do u explain for example, a case of one person refusing the given value of shs 80 million and asking for shs 1 billion along Kamwenge-Fort Portal Road for less than an acre of land?. Very Unreasonable & anti-public interest. Certainly government can’t afford all that money. And why would one person out of the many that agreed, jeopardize the interests of all by delaying a public good? This is the logic we need to look at.

By industrializing and linking the hinterland 2 the market through faster development of infrastructure (physical and technological), land owners get real value. Any delays therefore, impact badly on our livelihoods as a people and as a country. That is what Public Interest means and it’s good for us all, political sides notwithstanding. Let all of us understand & resist the Irresponsible politicking on this issue of Land for Public Interest developments.

Meanwhile the Minister has applauded President Yoweri Museveni for recognising ICT as another sector for job creation. Its only  through innovations that ICT can create jobs.

At Huawei Connect 2017 Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre, Joy Huang, Vice President of Huawei’s IT Product Line, in a keynote speech titled “All Connected, All Cloud, All Intelligent”, announced six innovative solutions designed to help enterprises with digital transformation. The new solutions include innovations in hardware, software, data, connection, architecture, and hybrid cloud.

At the same time, Huawei also shared success stories and best practices learned in working with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd. on digital transformation.

Joy Huang, Vice President, IT Product Line, Huawei, gave a keynote speech

“The digital transformation in many industries will bring human beings to an intelligent world in the future, and innovation will be the driving force of the revolution,” said Joy Huang. “Increasingly, innovation will take place in the cloud, and the cloud will need the all-round strength. Huawei Cloud is committed to be an enabler of intelligent world, delivering continuous innovations of technologies and capabilities on Huawei Cloud to help customers succeed in their digital transformation.”

Presenting its innovation in hardware, software, data, connection, architecture, and hybrid cloud:

Ugandan Life Expectancy Increases but HIV, Malaria, and Lower Respiratory Infection Take a Deadly Toll

Annual Global Burden of Disease study – world’s largest scientific collaboration on population health reveals new trends in illnesses, deaths, and risk factors leading to poor health

Life expectancy is growing in Uganda but the country continues to struggle with communicable diseases like HIV and malaria, as well as neonatal ailments that kill infants.

Globally, countries have saved more lives over the past decade, especially among children under age 5, but persistent health problems, such as obesity, conflict, and mental illness, comprise a “triad of troubles,” and prevent people from living long, healthy lives, according to a new scientific study.

“Life expectancy in Uganda is growing, but communicable diseases like HIV, malaria, and lower respiratory infection are still taking the lives of far too many Ugandans. Children are at particular risk, and neonatal ailments like sepsis, pre-term birth, and encephalopathy kill thousands of infants. There is still a lot of work to be done by all concerned stakeholders and players in ensuring that the health of the people of Uganda is further improved to achieve even better strides towards improving the quality of life and our life expectancy as a nation,” said Dr. Dan Kajungu, Executive Director – Makerere University Centre for Health and Population Research (MUCHAP)

This year’s version of the annual Global Burden of Diseases Study (GBD) is composed of five peer-reviewed papers, and was published today in the international medical journal The Lancet.  The five papers provide in-depth analyses of life expectancy and mortality, causes of death, overall disease burden, years lived with disability, and risk factors that lead to health loss.

Jane Aceng, Uganda’s Minister of Health

The study’s main findings for Uganda include:

A Ugandan man born in 2016 can expect to live 59.8 years, an increase in life expectancy of 8 years over the past decade. A woman has a life expectancy of 64.8 years, up 9.2 years from 2006.

But illness and injuries take away years of healthy life. A Ugandan male born in 2016 will live approximately 52.5 years in good health; a female only 56.3 years.

The top five causes of premature death in Uganda are HIV, malaria, lower respiratory infection, neonatal encephalopathy, and tuberculosis. The ailments that cause illness can be very different. Iron-deficiency anemia, depression, and back pain are the top causes of years that people live with disability in Uganda.

Deaths of children under 5 are a persistent health challenge. For every 1,000 live births, 62.4 Ugandan children under the age of 5 die. That far exceeds both the global figure of 38.4 and the eastern sub-Saharan Africa average of 59.6. Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania all have lower rates of under-5 death.

Moreover, in 2016, for the first time in modern history, fewer than 5 million children under age 5 died in one year, as compared to 1990 when 11 million died.

Researchers attribute this global health landmark to improvements in increased educational levels of mothers, rising per capita incomes, declining levels of fertility, increased vaccination programs, mass distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets, improved water and sanitation, and a wide array of other health programs funded by development funding for health.

“Death is a powerful motivator, both for individuals and for countries, to address diseases that have been killing us at high rates,” said Dr. Christopher Murray, Director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. “But, we’ve been much less motivated to address issues leading to illnesses. A ‘triad of troubles’ – obesity, conflict, and mental illness, including substance use disorders – poses a stubborn and persistent barrier to active and vigorous lifestyles.”

Visualizations have been created from which to compare and contrast data among nations and by health conditions. See: https://vizhub.healthdata.org/gbd-compare/

Despite progress on reducing deaths, this “triad of troubles” – obesity, conflict, and mental illness, including substance use disorders – is preventing further progress.

One of the most alarming risks in the GBD is excess body weight. The rate of illness related to people being too heavy is rising quickly, and the disease burden can be found in all sociodemographic levels. High body mass index (BMI) is the fourth largest contributor to the loss of healthy life, after high blood pressure, smoking, and high blood sugar.

Deaths over the past decade due to conflict and terrorism more than doubled. Recent conflicts, such as those in Syria, Yemen, South Sudan, and Libya, are major public health threats, both in regard to casualties and because they lead to long-term physical and mental consequences.

Mental illness and substance use disorders continued to contribute substantially to the loss of healthy life in 2016, affecting all countries regardless of their socioeconomic status. Treatment rates for mental and substance use disorders remain low. Even in high-income countries where treatment coverage has increased, the prevalence of the most common disorders has not changed.

The GBD is the largest and most comprehensive epidemiological effort to quantify health loss across places and over time. It draws on the work of over 2,500 collaborators from more than 130 countries and territories. IHME coordinates the study. This year, more than 13 billion data points are included; the papers comprise a complete edition of The Lancet.

This year’s GBD improves upon the previous annual update through new data, improvements in methodology, and a measure for tracking completeness of vital registration information.

The study’s other findings include:

Poor diet is associated with 1 in 5 deaths globally.

Non-communicable diseases were responsible for 72% of all deaths worldwide in 2016, in contrast to 58% in 1990. Within the past decade, diabetes rose in rank order from 17th to 9th leading cause of death in low-middle income countries.

Tobacco is linked to 7.1 million deaths, and in more than 100 countries, smoking was among the leading risk factors for loss of healthy life.

The leading causes of premature death globally included: ischemic heart disease, stroke, lower respiratory infections, diarrhea-related diseases, and road injuries. Ischemic heart disease was the leading cause of premature death for men in 113 countries and for women in 97 countries.

Only four of the leading 20 causes of disability in 2016 – stroke, COPD, diabetes, and falls –were also leading causes of death.

In addition, the top conditions in 2016 that made people sick, but were not necessarily fatal were: low back pain, migraine headaches, hearing loss, iron-deficiency anemia, and major depressive disorders.

Huawei Delivers Public Cloud Promise to Build One of Five Major World Clouds at Huawei Connect 2017

HUAWEI CONNECT 2017 on 5th September 2017 opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. More than 20,000 ICT industry leaders and experts gathered from over 150 countries and regions to jointly explore the direction of advancements in digital technology, share new opportunities, drive industry digitization, and embark on a path to new growth.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Grow with the Cloud’, focusing on the practical implementation of Huawei’s cloud strategy, first unveiled at last year’s event. Topics under this theme include business, technology, and ecosystem strategies in the cloud era.

Huawei Cloud – A look at Huawei’s uniquely structured ‘Cloud DNA’

“The cloud is a cornerstone of the intelligent world,” he said. “Society is experiencing a tangible Matthew effect in digital technology development. Because of this, as well as economies of scale in investment, clouds around the world will begin to converge – becoming more and more centralized. In the future, we predict there will be five major clouds in the world. Huawei will work with our partners to build one of those five clouds, and we’ve got the technology and know-how to do it.”

Guo Ping, Huawei’s Rotating CEO

In his speech, Guo Ping assured customers and partners that Huawei has made strategic investments in the public cloud domain, and will provide long-term public cloud services. The company will build a global cloud network based on its own public clouds, as well as clouds that it has built together with partners. Guo likened Huawei’s strategy to the three major airline alliances – SkyTeam, Star Alliance, and Oneworld – which take passengers wherever they need to go in the world. Huawei Cloud, he said, will open up the world to its users.

He went on to explain Huawei’s business model for the cloud, emphasizing that Huawei will monetize technology and services, not data. He said, “Huawei’s Cloud DNA is made of a unique combination of technology, security, services, and shared success.”

Huawei’s ‘Cloud DNA’ explained:

First, Huawei is a tech company. Building on 30 years of R&D experience, Huawei has decided to invest heavily in cloud platforms, while developing new capabilities in fields like big data and artificial intelligence to meet customer demand for service upgrades and innovation.

The second element of Huawei’s Cloud DNA is security. Huawei provides end-to-end security solutions – from chipsets to services – that effectively address the challenges of cloud security. Huawei’s full-stack capabilities ensure a level of security that far succeeds that of any independent IT system.

The third element is service. Unlike companies that were born in the cloud, Huawei grew with the cloud. The company’s own IT architecture is extremely complex, so it understands the needs and challenges of large global companies, and is well positioned to help governments and large enterprises go digital.

Shared success is the final element of Huawei’s Cloud DNA. At last year’s event, Huawei laid out its vision to help cultivate a thriving and diverse ecosystem. At the time, Guo proclaimed that Huawei has its sights set on only 1% of that ecosystem. For the remaining 99%, Huawei will work with its partners to bring their products to 172 countries and regions, achieving business success together.

Guo wrapped up his keynote with details on Huawei’s hybrid cloud solutions that specifically target the needs of governments and enterprises, including a diverse array of success stories from around the world. Architecturally speaking, Huawei Cloud builds on the company’s decades of experience in devices, networks, clouds, and other digital domains, and is better equipped to achieve synergy between devices and the cloud. Moving forward, Huawei will continue leveraging the strengths of its global platform to build an open ecosystem that thrives on shared success.

Building a cloud network with global coverage

Mr. Zheng Yelai, President of Huawei’s Cloud BU, also presented on the first day of the event, sharing his team’s progress on Huawei Cloud. He shared case studies from 12 automobile companies (including Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz), Philips, the Commercial and Industrial Bank of China (ICBC), and several government service platforms that have chosen to use Huawei Cloud and the cloud services from Huawei’s partners.

Zheng Yelai said, “Our people have an in-depth understanding of our customers’ business scenarios, whether they’re working in R&D, marketing, or sales. We keep a close eye on the needs of our customers, and innovate accordingly. We’ve developed Huawei Cloud to help enterprises go digital more smoothly, and help ensure the success of more companies who are willing to innovate.”

Today, Huawei also announced the launch of its new Enterprise Intelligence cloud services, which the company will provide with a platform of general and scenario-specific solutions. This combination of Huawei Cloud and EI makes Huawei Cloud more intelligent, and will help create greater industry value with new advancements in technology.

Huawei’s public clouds and private clouds have a unified architecture, support smooth evolution, and deliver a consistent experience. Companies can efficiently and freely deploy their services on public or private cloud platforms, which readily support service migration and expansion. To prevent vendor lock-in, Huawei offers hybrid cloud solutions that enable integration with third-party public cloud platforms, including those from Amazon and Microsoft.

Huawei has worked with its partners to build a cloud network that has global coverage, providing complete solutions that help Chinese companies go global, and that also help companies outside China enter the Chinese market.

Huawei Cloud is the result of innovations in hardware, software, data, connections, and architecture. At HUAWEI CONNECT 2017, Huawei will launch flagship solutions in each of these domains to further enable the digital agenda of customers across nine different sectors, including government and public utilities, finance, telecom, energy, transformation, and manufacturing.

Platform + Ecosystem: Focusing on practical application

HUAWEI CONNECT 2017 is all about platforms and ecosystems, focusing on practical application and hands-on experience. This year’s event brings together members of the vast global ICT ecosystem in an interactive exhibition hall over 20,000 square meters in area, 30% larger than last year. Over 60 sponsors, 10 industry organizations, and 130 joint solution partners are participating in the exhibition, and around 1,000 partners have joined Huawei at the event. Major partners in attendance include SAP, Accenture, Chinasoft International, HGST, Intel, Microsoft, Centerm, and Infosys. They will jointly showcase their latest progress and best practices in ICT technology, and participate in a broad range of activities during the event, including keynotes, booth exhibitions, sponsor events, and technical sessions.

Over 10 industry alliances, including the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), Beijing Disaster Backup and Recovery Technology and Industry Alliance, Edge Computing Consortium (ECC), GSMA, Industrial Internet Consortium, OpenSDS, and OpenStack, are also in attendance.

To expose its ICT capabilities to developer partners, Huawei will also launch its new software development cloud, DevCloud 2.0. As an R&D cloud platform that integrates Huawei’s 30 years of experience in R&D, cutting-edge R&D concepts, and advanced R&D tools, DevCloud 2.0 will expose over 3,000 of Huawei’s ICT capabilities through public APIs, and open the doors to 20 local OpenLabs around the world to developers. The end goal is to make software development simple and more efficient, helping developer partners innovate and successfully monetize new services.

HUAWEI CONNECT 2017, Huawei’s flagship event for the global ICT industry, was held at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre from September 5-7. The theme is Grow with the Cloud. Huawei will be exploring how to realize new growth through digital transformation together with its customers and partners at this global platform for open collaboration. Meet the young Girl who has been frustrating the Kenyan presenters’ marriages

A chilling confession of a 20 year old sexy babe who has slept with husbands of Kenyan TV Female presenters while watching them live on screens has left Kenya in shock.

The girl, whose name we cannot reveal, comes from a very wealthy family. She lives in Nairobi City where she runs her own businesses including; sale of beauty products which gives her close to 1000 USD per day after tax.

“I started sleeping around with the husbands to media ladies who would ignore me on social media. Basically the best time would be at 6-10pm when I know the wives weren’t around and for the safety of the guys; I would wait for them in my house.

I used to film all our intimate moments and I have stored them well in my safe which no one can access.

So far I have slept with 8 husbands who are married to media personalities and what I like most is having our good time as we watch their wives live on air on prime time reading the news.

Since we were good at timing and I knew when the wives would come back, we would make love and make sure that I do this each time I would be suggest that the “wife” was going to be on live shows.

From this, I have made over 200,000 USD as their husbands would pay for my silence. This has gone on for the past two months. I feel this is not a bad sum of cash because we always have it on mutual agreement, and besides the men die to have me though am always very specific on the kind of men I date.

I would like to apologize to the hearts of the married women whose hearts I have broken, though what I can say is that its life and there is nothing I can do about it.

Ladies please forgive me for messing up. I am young and naive and also I love making quick money given to me kindly by your men. I confess”.

In a chat with Diego from the YouTube channel Awkward Puppets, Mayweather revealed he has seven girlfriends and 25 cars in Las Vegas alone, including a red Bugatti and a yellow Ferrari.

In a bid to improve water supply services in Masindi Town and the surrounding areas, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC)using her internally generated resources has commissioned a Shs 2.2 billion Project with an aim of improving water production at Kiyanja water works Masindi.

The Water Production Improvement Project, which was designed in-house and directly supervised by NWSC Engineers, entailed expanding the production capacity of the intake and water treatment plant at Kiyanja. The new facility addresses the water shortages, rationing, and dry zones, which had become rampant in Masindi Town.

The newly constructed treatment/production line is comprised of new intake pipeline, coagulator and flocculator, clarifier, filter, electromechanical installations (new raw water & high lift pump), and associated pipe work interconnections and civil works.

Upon completion, the water production capacity of Kiyanja water works has increased from 1,800,000 litres/day to over 4,300,000 litres of water/day and meets the area demand for the next 15 years.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Masindi area manager Ms Racheal Anne Alokit assured residents and stakeholders that the Corporation has embarked on massive water mains extensions under the Service Coverage Acceleration Programme that was launched a few weeks back.

The NWSC Water Supply Infrastructure Manager Eng Denis Taremwa shared that only 50-60% of the water is being consumed from the newly completed systems. “We now have a task of extending the 40% and serve more people in Masindi.” He further urged the residents to stop encroaching on the water source.

According to the NWSC Senior Manager Operations West and South Western region Eng Mahmood Lutaaya, the Corporation is doing similar projects in various areas of operation. He went on to mention that NWSC will extend 100kms of water mains and install 100 public stand pipes in the next one year. In total the Corporation will extend a total of 300kms of water mains and install 300 public water points to serve over 212 villages in the next 3 years. “We want to install more public water points and reduce on the influence of middle men selling water at 500shs or more per jerrycan. NWSC sells a jerrycan of water at public stand posts at only 25shs.” he added

The Chief Guest, Masindi RDC Mr. Nyakahuma Godfrey commended the Corporation for the commitment towards service delivery and water for all Ugandans. “We had a problem of water in this Masindi town and the MD NWSC Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha promised that the Corporation would address it. Indeed the promise has been fulfilled. NWSC is at the forefront of pushing government programmes,” he said.

He added that the new system will greatly contribute to the economic and social development of Masindi town that is booming with massive development upon discovery of oil.

Also in attendance were: The district Vice Chairperson, Masindi Town Mayor, CAO, Contractor (Updeal Limited), customers and other district stakeholders.
